The EquipEx+ InfectioTron kick-off meeting began with introductory speeches by Frédéric Fleury (President of Lyon1 University), Jean-François Pinton (President of the ENS-Lyon) and Mireille Bossy (General Director of VetAgro Sup), the 3 institutional partners of the EquipEx receiving funding from the ANR for the set-up of the InfectionTron equipment. Each director/president detailed the synergy between the research & training strategies developed by his/her institution and the EquipEx+ InfectioTron, how his/her institution is supporting the project, and its full integration in the Lyon site for the development of “One Health” approaches in basic and translational/clinical research on infectious diseases.

Following this introductory part, Clémence Labat, Head of the Life Sciences & Health Department of Lyon Metropolitain Area, presented the dynamic Lyon and regional ecosystems in which the InfectioTron project will be integrated, and particularly the health ecosystem that is a strong economic driver for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the historic birthplace of vaccine production.
Lidie Rousseau, Scientific Project Manager at the ANR, presented elements of the PIA4 context for the call for projects in which InfectioTron was selected. She then recalled the contractual elements of the EquipEx and the key dates of the project. Lidie Rousseau informed the members of Equipex of monitoring actions that need to be taken during project implementation.
The conference was organised by visioconference due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
